Winston's the father! It's obvious, why else would he have chosen Labour? And now he gets to be acting PM (not property manager, the other PM).

When I fly over Auckland at 2000' its often hard to see the housing for the trees.
Yes, I think the Media will, in 2018, concentrate on the royal babies - both Adern and Windsor.
Everything else will get sidelined. Nothing like fluff to sell stuff.
I also note that - already - the promise to get rid of the 90 trial employment options has been binned for all small/medium employers, and the Unions are already huffy about that.Last edited by flyernzl; 27-01-2018, 11:19 PM.

A few months into Labour's socialist Utopia, now.
How's it looking, out there?
One item on the simmer.

The governments moronic 50% male/female gender role "equality" status for government leadership positions by 2019 will come back and bite us all . Strange how Winnie the Phoenix bird is also supporting this leftist agenda, though he showed his true colours a long time ago when his "no" placard turned out to be a big fat lie - has everyone forgotten? - and really meant "yes" in response to NZ First receiving Owen Glenn donations.

This looks like fun.
I'll have a go.
I expect that there will be a few unknown unknows that will send this picture totally sideways.
The big thing I see is the jostling for power between those old empires, China and Russia, and that new American rationalist empire the USA.
In the background is see the old ottoman empire and its religious values struggling also.
I see the age or reason and its value of the rights of man also fighting these old and new empires.
I see large corporate empires growing and jostling, and the old ancient financial empires also jostling.
So quite a bit going on.
Zooming in a bit to the fringes of these struggles, I see the China / America fringe as quite interesting.
I wonder if trumps plan will come off.
I wonder if Richard Nixon did a wise thig to decouple the paper and gold money, or if that easy solution was a cheat that never should have been taken.
I wonder if America can produce its own low cost semiconductor products and if China can now turn inward again with its new technical ability.
I see technology as being a major player in the rate of change,(just as previous technology such as glass knives, bronze ploughs, aqueducts etc leveraged the ability of previous generations of monkeys to alter the shape of their world).
But that's all I can really say.
So not really a prediction, more just an overview of most of the players.
Roll the dice.
it's going to be interesting.
Oh , you mean interest rates.
Probably going to go up a bit unless the banks can find some other sucker to drain.Last edited by McDuck; 28-07-2018, 08:54 AM.

About those trees in Auckland. Or anywhere really. Thing is, trees are born and grow and die. Just like wheat or petunias only bigger. And us. I live in Wellington's city fringe. From my window I can see hundreds of thousands of trees, maybe more. Some will be cut down or fall down. Others will grow. So?

Maybe its a play on the phrase not being able to see the wood for the trees.?
Trees signal to me that a suburb is well established, and its not that fresh fringe where I love to be.
Been a good boat and house and weapon building material for. the chimps.
Apart from that, I would have loved to be around when the plant life had terraformed the earths atmosphere.
