Kiwi analysts say global economy strong, amid warning of financial crash
    11 Jan 2017

Willem Buiter, the Citigroup bank's chief economist and a leading theorist on monetary policy, said investors should cut their exposure to asset markets like the sharemarket before central banks shut off emergency stimulus.

But New Zealand commentators are far from advising people to bail out, saying share prices were being justified by strong global growth.
I wonder who will be proved right?

USA is vulnerable with China owning so much of it's debt.

    cheers,

      We are in uncharted territory.

Central banks have never conducted QE on a mass scale before and they have never tried to reverse it by selling bonds back into the market, least of all when global debt is a record 332 per cent of GDP and the system has never been more sensitive to shifts in monetary policy.

Former Fed chief Ben Bernanke warned last year that the institution was tempting fate to attempt to unwind QE, saying that there is no need to do so.

It would be much wiser to leave the balance sheet alone and focus on raising rates instead.

The Fed decided to press ahead anyway, insisting that the bond sales will be as dull as "watching paint dry".

The truth is that nobody knows.

Given enough time, they will all be right, maybe.

This I can guarantee: death and taxes to all.

I think every prediction of doom and gloom has been wrong.
Certainly over the last 30 years.

Give it another thirty years - Apparently, Germany will need to be spending 80% of its GDP on healthcare and pensions by then.

Yet another prediction that is not consistent with reality.

                            what i'd really like

                            is the opposite of "ignore"

                            ie a way

for posters, to selectively block whiners

                            from seeing their posts

                            sure it could be done

and would improve world wide web behaviour
