Cheapest and quickest? That could depend on the volume of checks you do.
Have 3 rentals & need to check applicants, thankfully, once in a blue moon - the other thread re exemplary damages was on behalf of friend of friend (tenant) in adverse conditions, seeking help when unfairly and badly treated by agent of zero compassion with bad attitude
To check prospective tenants - I read somewhere here, TINZ and one other I dont recall but am really wanting to know who's cheapest & quickest
I used to be a high user but now am a low user! So I moved from one provider to another after I sold my business.
If you become a member of your local Property Investors association you can get a good deal off TINZ. TINZ do of course sell to people who are not members but it costs you a bit more per check. I retain my account at Equifax because they do a few transactions that TINZ do not provide.

Thanks Glenn & Perry
I came across - creditsimple.co.nz - I only viewed its homepage but haven't explored, read through it or tested it, I can't recommend or diss it at this stage - Will take a look at Equifax but not this minute
Tried to find Perry's Orion but couldn't find it on web - Will try again later

Sorry. In hindsight, that was not a helpful answer from me.
Orion is the PT name for Graeme Fowler, who posts on PT from time-to-time. He used to be in a business that had a credit-checking account with one of the entities that does such things.
Along with a credit check of tenant applicant, I would recommend a quick search of any Tenancy Tribunal Orders. It will show any orders with the relevant applicant going back 3 years and can indicate previous tenancy issues and character.
TINZ
1.Without tenant's agreement on using the website, you cannot lodge tenant's information because of privacy act.
2.Lodging the tenancy tribunal result is also not easy because the website requires birthdate. Even though on the page, birthday is not mandatory because it does not have * sign, but at the end, it asks you to fill in the birthdate.
However, this tenancy tribunal result is on the tenancy tribunal website (public), but only for 3 years.
1 would be very helpful, but unfortunately, i do not have the tenant application form. I'll ask to the agent to give one photocopy to me if I use an agent again to find a tenant. Also, I'll make sure that the form has a phrase releasing the tenant's information.
I joined TINZ, but have not really used it. I was going to upload my previous tenant that we went to the tribunal, but could not upload any info due to the 2 reasons.
