Yes - you've been 'outed,' you 'evil and greedy' property investor, you.
How dare you work so hard?!
Well done. Long may you reap the rewards of your efforts.
For the thieving socialists abroad, my wish for them is that they remain confounded, dumbfounded and discombobulated.

Too bad it's not that simple! Judging by the reported teachings of Jesus Christ, "Love thy neighbour" and so on, it seems to me that we are supposed to live much more according to socialist principles.
If you look closely at the wealthy from the POV of those "thieving socialists", you might see what they see - that the wealthy have, in general, stolen their wealth from the poor - and they just want some of it back. Who, really, does the most "thieving"? In reality, the wealthy do not create their wealth. Other people ("the thieving socialists" at the bottom of the pile) do the hard work that creates the wealth that they then "lay claim" to. That, in a nutshell, is "greedy capitalism". Sure, the smarter people who are able to organise others to create wealth deserve recognition for their abilities, but as the Bible says at Matthew 13:12 (KJV):
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
That's never more true, as reported here
62 people! For God's sake!
Personally, I think that's disgusting, and yet so many of us aspire to the same goals. Yes, me included. Like (I imagine) Sian, I see that owning houses is a way to "make" more money for my retirement, as the Gov'mint ain't gonna look after me then either. This money has to come from somewhere - in other words, from some one!
And as reported in the Bible at Matthew 19:24 (KJV)
24 "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."
So, clearly, the rich at least, are a Godless, uncharitable lot.
Anyway, things are seldom, if ever, as they seem. Maybe all those rich people know that the kingdom of God is just a fairy tale.
In that case, I guess having someone like Michael Stiassny on your team would be quite an advantage.Last edited by PTcruza; 30-09-2017, 09:44 AM.

Income inequality and wealth inequality are two different measurements, though the Stuff article flip flops between them. The GINI Coefficient is the usual accepted measure of income inequality.
The Oxfam report was noted by many at the time as a political report serving their own interests. For example, there are billions who have debt which impacts their wealth. Apart from those who have borrowed for housing or businesses, it was noted that many Harvard law students would be in the bottom 1% for now, due to high student loans.

Just like the counter story about "evil and greedy property investors" is probably just more spin.
It's the old story: "Perception = Reality"
Hasn't changed since before Adam was a boy.

The whole rich / poor / PI / rapacious thing is filled and fraught with logical fallacies.
In pondering one possibility, let us remember that the gummint has no money that it does not first take from one taxpayer or another.
We'll presume that Sidnz has a teacher colleague. Said colleague lives life to the full, making nothing remotely like the sacrifices Sidnz' tale describes. Still has a student loan to pay off, spends weekends on enjoyment with no deep thought about the future.
Is comparing the two fair? What's fair? Is Sidnz the tortoise and her colleague the hare?
Try Matt 25 15:30, if you've a mind to. And perhaps ponder this one: Luk 14 28:30.
There are so many perspectives available.
