  • From 'charming' to a 'squat' - one French Airbnb renter's flat trashed

There was no sign of any trouble when Laurie S letted out her cosy French flat on Airbnb.
She was going away for three weeks and put her tiny studio apartment in Paris on the home-sharing app.
She was contacted by a Canadian renter who was described by her neighbours as "nice". Sadly it seems he was anything but.

So tenant trashes the flat and AirBnB pay out €800,000.
Whereas in NZ - might get awarded a few $ from the kangaroo court after months delay and maybe get paid $20pw.
Sounds like AirBnB is worth looking at!

    Article doesn't say that. Says

Airbnb told French TV that this sort of behaviour was "extremely rare" and that out of 30 million flats rented last year, only 0.009 per cent were damaged.

They offer a compensation package of up to €800,000. They also said that the renter who allegedly caused the damage had now been banned from using the app.
In this case the cleaning bill was 10,000 Euros. No mention of how much they gave her.
    Squadly dinky do!
