    Default Gas hob certification questions

Hi looking at a property that has a gas stove it is connected to a 9kg cylinder hidden in the kitchen bench/cabinet. It was installed in the 90s. I presume that's legal at that time and hence is still legal?

If I wanted to spruce up the kitchen and install a new like-for-like gas stove, is the "gas cylinder under the kitchen bench" installation still viable, or will it need to be some major $$$ gasfitting work?

    THanks

pretty sure its not allowed now but doubt it would be to expensive to have a gas fitter run pipe to outside

I have the same set up in my own home but it's now illegal if you replace or install a new oven/hob the gas bottle has to be outside guessing there'll come a time when I'll have to run some copper tubing to the outside for my current setup.

I think this is what caused the house to explode in New Windsor? If it is for someone else get the cylinder outside?

So, if the house needs an electrical certificate, (just had to do one that had been refurbed and out of action for several months before the power co would liven it), then does a house with gas appliances need any ongoing certification?

    Under H & S are both a requirement?

I am guessing but suspect that this could be the case. After all we have to do a caravan, tag and tests at the workplace etc.

    Anyone know?

I receive a Gas Safety Cert when I get my gas fire serviced every 2 years but not had one on the gas hob since it was installed. Probably
should call my Gas guy and get his take on it.

Usually the fire needs the fan at the back cleaned of dust I can't access it due to short arms or I'd do it myself- I'll try and call Rob tomorrow and get his take on safety certs for hobs
