    How do I Post?

In order to post in the PropertyTalk.com forums you first need to be a registered member. If you are not a registered member please Click Here to read the easy guide to registering.

Here are the steps to post

    1) The first thing is to check that you are currently logged into PropertyTalk.com forums. To check look above where you are reading now and you will see a box that has a number of things in it including a navigation link to tell you where you are currently within the forums. To the right of that you will see a little box.

Now if you are logged in you will see this

If you are not logged in your will see this

If you find that you are not logged in please enter your user name and password into the boxes provided and click on the “Log In” button located within the box.

Its a good thing to leave the “Remember Me?” check box. This allows the forum to automatically log you in every time you come back to our forums. If you unclick the “Remember Me?” check box then you will have to log in every time you visit the forums

    2) When you have clicked on the “Log In” button the forum will log you into the forum and the box will now look like this…

    3) Once you have logged in you can now post.

    Create your Own Discussion
    1) To start your own discussion (called a “Thread”) go to the forum you think is appropriate to your discussion. For example if you think your topic relates to tenants in New Zealand then go to the Tenant Stuff (NZ) forum by clicking on that name in the forum list.

    2) You will be taken to the main Tenant Stuff (NZ) forum home page where you will see existing discussions. To start your new discussion click on the “New Thread” button.

    3) You will then be taken to the “Post New Thread” web page. This is the forum that you fill in to post your new discussion.

    4) To do the basics fill in the Title field (that’s the topic of your discussion) and then write your post in the “Message” field.

You will notice that you will have a whole load of formatting options to work with. See the image below. The Message text box works like a word processor application like Microsoft Word – you can bold, underline text, add smiles, add links to other web sites.

    5) Once you have added your tile and message you can just click on the “Submit New Thread” to post your new discussion or you can click the “Preview Post” to see how your post looks before you send it to the forum.

    6) Once you click on the “Submit New Thread” the new discussion will appear in the forum home page.

    7) However, before you click on the “Submit New Thread” button you might be interested in some of the options that are located below the buttons.

8.) The most important option is the “Thread Subscription” which gives you options on if you would like to be alerted via email that someone has responded to your discussion and if so how frequent would you like to be alerted.

    Posting to an existing Thread
    1) If you would like to post to existing discussion locate the discussion you are interested in by clicking on the title within the forum post list.

    2) Once you have clicked the title of a discussion that you wish to post in you will be taken to the discussion’s web page that lists the current posts.

Now some discussions might be very long and you may notice Page Link sections to allow you to navigate through the whole discussion.

    3) To post within the discussion click on the “Post Reply” button located at the top of the discussion (called “Thread”).

    3) You will then be taken to the “Post New Thread” web page. This is the forum that you fill in to post your new discussion.

    4) To do the basics fill in the Title field if you want (its not required) and then write your post in the “Message” field.

For the rest of this exercise see the images above in the "Create your own discussion" as its the same process when writing and posting.

You will notice that you will have a whole load of formatting options to work with.

    6) Once you click on the “Submit Reply” the new discussion will appear in the forum home page.

    7) However, before you click on the “Submit Reply” button you might be interested in some of the options that are located below the buttons.

8.) The most important option is the “Thread Subscription” which gives you options on if you would like to be alerted via email that someone has responded to your discussion and if so how frequent would you like to be alerted.

    9) That’s it! Your reply post will appear in the discussion at the end of the discussion thread.

    Cheers
