In this case, the insurer accepted a DIY baseline test, (it was 18 months ago) but doubt very much if they would have accepted anything less than an impartial, lab-based testing firm (NIOSH 9111 - which looks to be the standard under the new NZ standards) for the post tenancy testing.
The company I used are NIOSH qualified & therefore were accepted by the insurer.
I would suggest a prudent property manager or landlord outsource a lab-based test - peace of mind for the $250 up front cost.
It certainly paid off for me
