I advertised a studio/granny flat under my house a few months ago at $300pw. No laundry, only a kitchenette. Went quickly and had good interest (Kohi/St Heliers).
Which makes me shake my head every day as I drive home from work and see a certain sign by the road. Professional couple with 1 child looking for a 2-3+ bedroom house in the area. Budget? $350-$500. They're dreaming.

they might want to sub-let it? and just fishing for clueless landlords?
on the other hand, totally irrelevant I know, but in Welly 1beds are already going for over $300 (inner suburbs, not up in the hutt)
things like being allowed to stand on a bus where all the seats are taken
better than standing at a bus stop watching 3 buses "full" of only seated passengers drive past
This seriously happens? That's nuts! Buses used to be built with hand grips/rails for standing passengers and signs saying that you should give up your seat for the elderly/pregnant. There was an expectation that some passengers would need to stand. Has H & S got so bad that this has gone by the wayside?
Then again, with the way Auckland bus drivers drive......
