Wait, all suburbs? I've got a 3bed in Clendon Park renting at $420; are 1beds there seriously renting over $300?

I advertised a studio/granny flat under my house a few months ago at $300pw. No laundry, only a kitchenette. Went quickly and had good interest (Kohi/St Heliers).

Which makes me shake my head every day as I drive home from work and see a certain sign by the road. Professional couple with 1 child looking for a 2-3+ bedroom house in the area. Budget? $350-$500. They're dreaming.

            saw that too

            thought much the same thing

you're putting up a cardboard sign on a heavily walked path why?

because you've tried the local agencies and you don't want to pay the market rate

which shows you think you're a little special and deserve special treatment

            good luck with that

meanwhile am struggling to get a tenant in an inner city 1 bed to pay $310pw

            market for same is $330 - $360

"can you give me a special deal?"

"you've already got the special deal"
            have you defeated them?

they might want to sub-let it? and just fishing for clueless landlords?

on the other hand, totally irrelevant I know, but in Welly 1beds are already going for over $300 (inner suburbs, not up in the hutt)

if councils all over the country

want to address the homeless + housing problems

esp. for people with "complex needs"

they need to allow the construction of lots + lots of cheap box

                    better compact and affordable flats

than large and unaffordable townhouses, or cars, garages + caravans

as a nation we just can't afford gold plated solutions on our poor productivity

things like being allowed to stand on a bus where all the seats are taken

better than standing at a bus stop watching 3 buses "full" of only seated passengers drive past

councils should be focused on riding the population waves

not standing on the beach yelling "no, no, no" as they get swamped

I agree eri, councils in NZ are just not up with the play.

                      Stuck with a 70s mindset.

This seriously happens? That's nuts! Buses used to be built with hand grips/rails for standing passengers and signs saying that you should give up your seat for the elderly/pregnant. There was an expectation that some passengers would need to stand. Has H & S got so bad that this has gone by the wayside?

Then again, with the way Auckland bus drivers drive......

                          my bad

apparently you can still stand on ak buses

but the drivers apparently still sail past bus stops if they are "full"

Frustrated workers being forced to wait at stops and watch as crammed buses sail past are appealing for more transport.

Why would they stop if they were 'full'?
