Recently bought a house where previous owners converted the lower level from a rumpus to a minor dwelling in 2004. (studio with bathroom and kitchen)
It ended up getting a CCC for the bathroom, but the consent application for minor unit ended up being retracted as there were structural elements that needed to be fixed to bring it up to code (Mainly fire safety).
Interestingly though the property is still to date registered with council as a Home & Income, and we pay rates for the second unit.
Looking for advice on next steps to make the second unit fully legal as a rental property.
Am I correct in the following?
a) We get a builder in to do all the work and reapply? Or
b) If we removed the built in oven and put in a convection oven instead, would this make it legal?
