In my rental in Papakura the water bill for about 3.5 months came to about $1300. The issues were as below:
1. There was some leak in the kitchen sink which the tenant did not notice and there by was not reported for rectification. In this instance who is responible for this. Tenant is refusing to pay. Agreeable to pay the normal consumption.
2. Veolia the Company that manages the water in Papakura issues water bills once in 3-4 months time period. If the biills are issued on monthlly basis we could have know this much earlier and rectified. Alternatively if the usage was unusually high Veolia can alert the tenant or propert Manager.
Veolia declied to waive this excess charges citing that the leak was internal and not responsible for this.
Has anyone come across similar situation and is there any remedy available other than paying off the bill.
