Letting fees

Trying to verify if letting fees can be charged to renew a tenancy or amend
Tenancy Services website states "A letting fee cannot be charged to renew or extend a tenancy" but I cant find reference to this in RTA other than key money rules.

Tenancy services also state that the bond must be lodged within 23 working days. Not accurate, either of those statements.

Potentially under 17(4)(c) of the RTA if you use an agent or lawyer to arrange the renewal - but I wouldn't want to be a landlord explaining that one at tribunal.

Its not a fair and reasonable charge to impose on tenants to renew a tenancy even if there is a housing shortage.....I heard of a lot of ChCh agents doing it a couple of years back.....
