Hi
The property that i am looking to buy, has had a problem of sewerage back up in one of the toilets a month back and was reported to the council.
The council replied back that the problem was in the private portion of the line and washed off their hands.
The owners told me that it was a one time issue and has not recurred since but i cant take that to be the gospel truth.
The LIM shows that the sewerage line is common for 5 houses and starts from house 1 and after crossing house 5 joins the council main line
My house is number 3
Obviously if house 4 & 5 do not keep their sewerage line clear, i will face a backup issue
The council will not clean up the sewers as it is a private line
Even if i get it inspected by a certified plumber, i think he can do the inspections only till my boundary end.
House 5 i see no activity and may be locked by the owners
What are my options in this case ?
Thanks for advising
