Any suggestions for account that can file USA IRS tax documents for an Expat

My first post... And it's about tax!

I'm a dual citizen (living in NZ - all wages and investments here too). I've always done my own USA IRS tax filing in the past but last year with two investment properties in Auckland it's become too difficult for me to complete.

I've been quoted $3000 from an accountant just to do my USA taxes (not including my NZ tax).

Anyone out there that can suggest a less expensive accountant that you've used?

Personally I'd recommend looking for an accountant in the USA who knows how to deal with foreign income. There will be far more options available, and they're less likely to mess it up. Then find a reasonably priced Chartered Accountant here in NZ - preferably a property specialist - to do your work here so they can just provide a single number to your USA adviser.

USA tax skills are a very niche area here in NZ, and anyone who has them can therefore charge through the nose for it.
