We share a sewage drain with our neigbours who are closest to the road (we are behind them). Due to a long slump on the neighbour's side of the drain their sewage is flowing backwards into our property causing it to flow out onto our lawn. Of course, we are unable to use our shower, laundry and toilets (have to go to public toilets and shower at relatives).
It has been an ongoing and recurring problem. Until now we just got the plumbers out to unblock the drains (we didn't realise until this time that it was backflow from the neigbours). We have already spent more than $2,000 on unblocking so don't want to spend anymore.
We have had a quote of $9,000 to install new drains on the neigbours side, but the neighbor refuses to contribute towards the costs claiming 'I have no problem'.
Has anyone had/know about a similar issue to this?
Any suggestions how to convince the neigbour that she 'does' have a problem with her drains?
Cheers,
