Hi everyone,
Sorry this is a bad first post but i find myself in a very unusual situation.
I signed a 1 year ftt in feb this year, for a 1 bedroom unit. Last month my employer cut my hours down from 5 to 3 days per week. This has had a huge affect on me and i am unable to pay rent. I told my landlord and he agreed to advertise it to be relet, but said the market was slow. I also applied to the tenancy tribunal to break the tenancy under section 66 hardship.
This was dismised as i had started the job in january so i should have forseen that i may have had my hours cut. (i honestly did not forsee that).
Anyway, at the TT i told my LL that i can not afford to pay rent and have not paid for 4 weeks since. the place is massivly overpriced looking at what else you can get, and nobody has come to view the place since its been advertised (2 months). I am praying the landlord will apply for rent arrears and termination but i dont think he will because he knows he wouldnt get as much for the place.
Is there anything i can do to get out of the agreement without losing my credit rating and going into debt?
Thanks!
