we recently had a falling out with a dodgy building contractor who used unregistered plumbers and he consequently (after we went into dispute) decided to tell the council about some unauthorised works we have in our basement from an earlier owner.
after a bit of digging around we found the engineer who created a safe and sanitary report for the previous owner.
We found this report by asking the inspector how he had plans of the alterations where the property file clearly shows "undeveloped area" in the basement... so i made a mental not of the engineer and sought him out.
so now we have a copy of the safe and sanitary report dated 2004 and a letter stating that the basement is still largely unchanged (aside from some cosmetic changes - new paint, upgraded fuse box and new benches etc.)
I know there are plenty of posts here regarding minor dwellings etc, so we won't go into that. If they claim it's a minor dwelling since there is a sink, I'll just pull out the sink. I just want to know how to submit a safe and sanitary report as I've tried emailing it to the inspectors and still don't get a reply. Apparently they are supposed to issue a letter confirming they have accepted it as safe and acknowledging it was done prior to 1991.
I'm getting worried as they've given a date for compliance as late November, which is fast approaching. I think we are going to get some crazy notice days before the due date to do a ridiculous amount of work, and hence end up cornered.
does anyone know how to submit a safe and sanitary report to council?
