Its always been standard practice for the listing agent to ask for a copy of the Tenancy Agreement when they are trying to sell a rented property, and in the past I have provided these on my own properties, and have always asked for them (and received them) when looking to purchase more rentals.
However, have been thinking about this (always dangerous), and the privacy aspect of it, and took advice from Tenancy Services the other day, who confirmed that as this is an agreement between the current landlord and the tenant; it is not legal to be handing this over to the selling agent, or the prospective purchaser, without the permission of the tenant.
Does anyone ever get this permission; has anyone ever come across this being a problem ?
