  • Pillars in apartment bedroom, is this 1914?

    Pillar shock prompts apartment dispute

A new apartment buyer faces the possibility of a legal row with a developer after finding window and bed space blocked by pillars she claims were not on the plans.

The architect, and probably the structural engineer also, should be fired for this blunder.

How did this kind of rubbish design got away in 2013-14?

Perhaps if you phone up your Mayor, and have him ask his planning department that question.
Mrs Collins said she was inspired to buy the apartments, which cost a combined $570,000, after watching Mayor Len Brown talking about the suburb's renewal on television last year.
The high-rise is being hailed by the Auckland Council as a model for future compact housing developments suggested in the Auckland Unitary Plan as a step to solving the housing shortage, Mr Brown says.

"New Lynn is showing the rest of Auckland what a vibrant, compact city can look like and it's looking very good indeed.

"The Merchant Quarter is New Lynn's new heart where people can live, work, do business, shop and be entertained."

Well there is a problem there obviously, but the developer is also pretty stupid not seeing this coming...

        Why is it a blunder?

Ridiculous story. Of course it's not a building blunder. She probably got it at a discounted rate because of the pillar. Should have looked at the plans better. The designers maybe could have put the pillar in a better place. Another nothing story from the herald.

Developers say the pillars were included. Just the heralds normal dross, randomly chuck in Len browns name like he built them and then you get the usual suspects complaining with their knickers in a twist.

The fact she couldn't actually read a drawing, or realise how important it is to ensure you have the actual drawing does indicate that they were there, she simply didn't know what she was looking at. Does anyone actually thing the columns where an afterthought not on the drawings?

Have you never read an article about something you are very knowledgeable about and been frustrated at the completely incorrect garbage you are reading?

Hint: the paper will try to create outrage out of nothing. This is how they sell newspapers to plebs. This article is a complete non-issue, just stupid people not taking accountability for their actions.
