In a sense it has been renamed so many things already, The Persian Empire, the Roman Empire, The Axis of WWii.
It's just one group looking after it's own interests by forming a block of power, often to the detriment of the weaker members of that group.

I did laugh when John Key, this morning, tried to sell the TPP as a nice tasty little power block for the extension of US control of the region.
Mmmmm he thought, power hungry Trump will bite at that yummy snack.

nz will continue to sign agreements with individual countries without the usa + japan trying to throw a spanner in the works

they will take longer, cost more + be less useful

but still useful
