Default Thoughts on whether 2nd bathroom needs shower

    Hi

We have purchased a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house which is in need of a bit of work!

The house is 2 storey with one bathroom downstairs and the other bathroom upstairs. Also upstairs are 2 of the bedrooms. The bathroom upstairs has a shower, toilet and vanity. The bathroom downstairs currently has a shub (shower over half a bath) and vanity. We are going to take out the current shub. So now you have the background details the question we ask is....for the downstairs bathroom would you put in a standard sized bath with no shower, or a shower over a standard bath?

    Thanks in advance!

Do you have room to fit a STANDARD sized bath? Not one of those "I think I'm a bath but I'm small" type things! They're just a waste of time. Think about the configuration of the room, where the waste pipes are currently and if the bath will fit there. Getting plumbing shifted can be quite expensive.

These days you can buy glass swivel doors for over baths (I don't know the marketing name for them). They're a LOT better than those mingin plastic shower curtains.

It'll make the place look fresh, new and easy to clean. Whether it stays like that is dependent on the tenant you pick!! LOL.
    Patience is a virtue.

If you have space for a standard sized bath, I would do it. I would also put a shower over a standard sized bath.

I haven't put a bath into a property I've built for myself or renovated to rent for the past 22 years. It's had no effect on resale and no problem renting.
Put the money into a decent shower. Who can afford to have a shower these days anyway with the cost of water and the cost of power?

What's wrong with plastic curtains? I like how, if you don't clean them regularly, they get a kind of slimy/slippery coating and if the wind blows they wrap around your legs.
