Default 1000-apartment plan for central city site

    Hi all,

    MORE apartment news!

Korean developers are planning to build New Zealand's biggest apartment tower, with more than 900 units on a central-city Auckland site.

The 40-level block will be on the former Royal International Hotel site on the corner of Albert, Elliott and Victoria Streets.

The $200 million, 38-level Metropolis, completed in December 1999, is now the city's tallest apartment block.

The Koreans' site has been vacant for more than 10 years after the Royal International Hotel was demolished, and has been leased to Wilson Parking.

This year, Indonesian-controlled Colwall Properties sold the block for $24.5 million to Korean developer Ganada, controlled by Huh Jae Ho and Seo Dong Woon.

    Hi Guys

Yikes. This is shades of the high risers in Hong Kong.

Didn't know that the govt was going to increase the number of immigrants again.

Surely we aren't drawing a comparison between Auckland and Hong Kong? Hah!

    Hi guys

Yes i am drawing a comparison between HK and Auckland.

Question: What is used in HK to house it's population.
Answer: Hideous multi story apartment blocks.

Question: What is proposed for Auckland.
Answer: A hideous multi, multi story apartment block.

These multi story apartment blocks were built by the hundred in England.
And what has happened since? They became dens of eniquity.

I for one don't want these 40 story, 1000 apartment blocks to be built in Auckland.

    Regards

    Hi Guys

The 19th Century was the century of the English

The 20th Century was the century of the Americans.

But the 21st Century will be the century of the Chinese.

    Regards
