Your approach (and your colleagues) in regards to posters on here (in a similar vain to your name) is doing nothing for your branding of your site. You are coming across as an aggrieved tenant who has had issues in the past; I’m guessing that your times in the TT (where you won) you were in the position of a tenant and not a landlord?
There are very experienced people on these forums who are giving you free advice on how to improve your start up business. May I suggest you rethink you approach and work with these people who are prepared to give you some of their time to help improve your service.
Interesting statement, since it has already changed in just the few days I have observed the site.
In my experience, the thinking for funding plan is usually something like:
membership sites pay the best
paid advertising will not work until large traffic is acheived (why would an advertiser pay to advertise on a site getting no exposure ?)
So build traffic then convert to paid membership & paid ads.
Also in my experience, it is at the point of making memberships paid that traffic takes a nose dive.
Thanks Keith, but please don't concern yourself with our funding and business model, we will struggle through with that.
Howevever we'll happily accept suggestions for the site content and functionality, making improvements, offering every effort to produce a quality product, and let's see how this pans out.
The two directors have over 40 years mutual business experience, 20 of which in Internet commercial interests. We couldn't be happier with the way the site is developing both sitewise and financially.
We have removed the offending article. As for your suggestion that we include a caveat in every page to declare our being amateurs or worse, charlatans, I think not.
Bruce Gordon
Your choice Bruce/ Matt, however your declaration is already in place on every page that has a legal inaccuracy or has more than a couple of instances of personal opinion that are clearly wrong to the majority of readers.
eg from your homepage:
"For too long landlords have had it all their own way"
"Privately rented housing tenants are still getting a bum deal when it comes to housing standards and poor housing in particular."
"A recent report showed that almost half of all privately rented homes contain potentially lethal hazards!" (what report is that exactly ?)
etc
& on your privacy policy page:
who exactly is "Tenancy Support Services International "
and This Policy applies to the www. tenancysupport. co. nz website.
so the privacy policy doesnt apply when I am viewing the exact same page via landlordcheck !!!!!!!!
what was it you were saying about 20 years experience and "We couldn't be happier with the way the site is developing" ??????

My two cents do with it what you like.
Maccachic,
Firstly you assume the tribunal wins were firstly tenancy tribunal, and secondly as a tenant. I'd suggest you google the word "assmue".
There are many in these forums whose advice we appreciate and will consider. There are others here who have proved themselves to be combative, agenda-driven and demanding.
We will happily work with the former in a positive way. As for the latter, we will treat their attempts with the treatment they deserve.
The whole site does appear to be a bit anti-landlord. It could have been written by Bernard Hickey! I'm not going to disagree that the standards of rental properties can be quite low but I think it's unfair to cast all the blame on landlords. Housing in NZ is generally of a low standard compared with other western countries and often, landlords live in simlar properties to their tenants before they make enough to "move up". Also, it's not like tenants are forced to rent any particular property. We can only charge what rent a tenant is prepared to pay.
By the way, your website has serious duplicate content issues. You're using two domain names to display the identical content and also you don't have 301 redirects set up to your www addresses.
Not combative at all. Tenants don't want to pay to be educated. You have agreed with that yourselves by changing to a free site.
So, 2 directors and a business advisor discuss our business model over a period of time and reach a decision, and within 24 hours you have decided our motives and intentions without our declaring them?

If tenants are happy to pay to join your website, I'm sure you'll change it back to a paid subscription model.
You guys are hopeless
