Dear Members
Due to an unprecedented (doubled) price hike and changes to the general terms and conditions of hire at our present keynote venue, we have decided to find a new home for our future keynote meetings.
After much research, consideration (for accessibility, car parking, venue and AV facilities and most importantly, cost saving), and also consultation with a group of randomly selected members - we have arrived at a decision.
Effectively as of now (December 2011), we will be hosting our monthly keynote meetings at the Dorothy Winstone Centre (DWC) at the Auckland Girls Grammar School 14 Howe Street Newton.
The DWC is a purpose built amphitheatre that is fully equipped with adequate facilities to serve our various audio-visual requirements. It is centrally located and close to all motorway off ramps. We will be circulating maps and driving directions closer to the next keynote meeting on the 14th of February 2012. The school has offered us four car park areas giving us car park spaces in excess of 350. We will also be able to utilise its foyer area for our registration, sponsors and catering purposes. Additionally, the competitive quote we have been offered means a cost saving of around $150 a month for venue/equipment hire and around $800 a month for catering. These savings are against our current expenses and not against the new (increased) prices as proposed by the previous venue.
After much deliberation, the board considers this move to be fiscally responsible especially in this tough economic climate. Our goal as a non profit organisation has always been to provide our members with good quality speakers who share valuable information at a comfortable setting. We believe having our 2012 lineup of speakers such as Mayor Len Brown and immediate past NZPIF President Martin Evans presenting at the DWC will serve this aim brilliantly.
This shift does represent a further travel distance for some of our members based in East and South Auckland. We do apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding in advance.
Kind regards
APIA
