  • how to find how much a house sold for

    Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to find how much a property sold for. (sold today...)
It was supposed to be a mortgagee auction next tuesday but aparently offers came in today.
A friend of mine was interested in it. When she asked the agent how much it sold for, she just get told that it's confidential.
If confidential, does anyone knows how long is it confidential for?
    Thanks

It's confidential for 6 weeks. After that the agent can tell you as it's on public record.

Public record might be the wrong term. It's available through agencies like qv, terranet or reinz

Use Zoodle. It costs $3. Cheaper than a cup of coffee

Let me know the address of the property and I can let you know when it is available.

Vendors solicitors instruct not to disclose untill settlement. Most settlements are 6 weeks in duration however not in everycase.
As the others have mentioned best to have a 'friendly agent'. good luck

How do these agencies gain access to the data?

i recommend to you if there is external source involved then you should to sale this with in the 6 or 8 weak. other wise the agent will shift it on the public record.

It comes up on their computer program which I think is REINZ. The agency pays for this access.
Years ago this used to list the address, owners name & previous sale price. It's probably a bit flasher now.
