Hi I'm new to the site and joined up because I'm looking into investing in a property in NZ to rent out before moving there to live a year or so later. I could really do with some advice.
I'm about to start an application for NZ residency with my partner in the hope of moving there in about 2 years time. I have inheritance money sitting around in minor shares etc not really doing anything and this money would be an ok amount for a deposit on a small house or flat in the UK but I've realised it could get me a decent 3 bed house in wop wop areas of nz or an awesome place in the south island cities if I was able to get a little mortgage with it. Now I'm actually a student in my last year of uni so i doubt i could get a mortgage in my name, but my partner is earning and has reasonable credit so it could go in his.
I'm thinking of buying to rent out (under management of a kiwi estate agent) with the money collecting in a kiwi account so that once we are accepted and able to make the move over there we have a good home to live in and a nice little nest-egg to get us going.
Does all this sound like a good idea...and actually do-able?
Please give personal advise and/or suggest where we could find information to set us on the right track.
Thanks xxx
