Hi All
Firstly, what an impressive site. Wish I had known about this earlier, could have saved myself a few grey hairs.
If any of you are from Wanganui and know of, or are interested in forming a Wanganui Landlords club etc. Then please email me at [email protected] I have very little knowledge of these things but would be willing to assist in kick starting one, if there is enough interest.
Bought my first rental 18 months ago and found it very difficult starting out. Tenancy services are a great help but they have their limitations. Much of the finer details I have found out by trial and error.
The secret is out and Wanganui's house prices are up about 10% from December to January. http://www.reinz.co.nz/marketfacts/index.htm
This must be bringing new landlords into the arena who, like me, found there are plenty of people willing to take advantage of the situation. Hence I found myself out of my depth making court appearances, visiting dept collectors, knocking on strangers doors. Realising all of this could have been avoided if I had a better understanding of the situation and done my homework properly. If there is a group in Wanganui out there then please let themselves known.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
