Choosing the right ownership structure for your portfolio in light of the recent Budget and law changes
The August Central Auckland meeting will feature the APIA President, experienced investor and trust lawyer, David Whitburn. David is an accomplished presenter and will give an overview of the various ownership structures available today for property investors and go through the pros and cons of each structure. He will be giving coverage to owning property in:
* your Personal Name
* in a standard Company
* in a Loss Attributing Qualifying Company (including highlighting the key changes announced in the May 20th Budget by the Government)
* in a Partnership (including Limited Liability Partnership)
* in a Trust
David will also cover owning properties in joint ventures, and most importantly give examples of these structures with various situations simulated. He will also give you his opinion briefly on the Auckland housing market and talk about the impact of the depreciation changes to your portfolio, so you are armed in advance for what to do in case you need to restructure and/or refinance your portfolio prior to the new rules taking effect on 1 April 2011.
