Hi,
I am currently in a difficult situation here and want to get it resolved as quickly as possible.
I have been living with a flatmate (who owns the house) for 9 months and over the weekend I had decided to leave due to personal reasons. When I moved in, I didn't pay a bond, pay 2-3 weeks in advance or sign the agreement so all she wants is me to pay a week rent in advance with 100% trust and respect and that I wouldn't leave her in a lurch.
When I made the decision to leave, I assume I would give her a week notice due to paying her on a weekly basis. About 6 months ago, she verbally said to me that she would like plenty of notice (1 month) should I leave. We agreed but nothing was done in writing.
I told her the news last night and it didn't go down very well. She reminded me that we both agreed that I would give her a month's notice. She has placed an ad for a new flatmate straight after and hope that it will be filled between now and a month then I could move out sooner.
I have been rather unhappy living there and wanted to get out of this place asap. It has been causing me a lot of stress and I want to put myself first.
What options do I have? Is she right with those rules?
My b/f said I should leave this weekend and move out. I don't want to leave on bad terms.
Has anyone experienced this kind of situation? Please drop me a message!
Cheers,
Elizabeth
