The survey is my own. I conduct them roughly every six months and this one was done in December.
The cost of home ownership assumes a 20% deposit, paying the average floating mortgage rate from the five main banks on a 25 year P&I, with an allowance for rates, insurance and repairs.
It compares this cost with the upper quartile rental price for NZ. I use the upper quartile figure as the average NZ home is likely to be a superior rental property.
