Any reason why the accountant should be based in Tauranga? We buy property in Wellington but our accountant is in Auckland. We don't really need to see him as long as we can phone and fax him.

Same with our lawyers.

I could think of one.
You can easily go in and see them in person.

I have spent many hours in consultation with my accountant discussing property, business structures and the like. Sure one could spend hours on the phone in consultation, but itwould be hard to see what they are drawing or writing on their white board. If you feel that time spent with your accountant would hold no value for you, perhaps you have out grown your accountant.

So in answer to your question Vanessa.
Yes. I do know of an accountant in your area (Mt Maunganui). He is a bit of an "Old Salt" (knowledgeable bugger) and keeps up to date with the changing times. He also has a passion for property and is both an active investor and a member of the TPIA (Tauranga Property Investors Association).
I have sent many people his way (for no personal financial gain ) and have only recieved thanks from these people. He can be hard to contact if you are in a hurry as he is quite popular so I always book ahead if I need to see him in person.
