Hi,
I have a tenant on a FFT(5 months left) who has never missed a rental payment or damaged the property but as it turns out has gang friends regularly visiting which is freeking out the street. The Swat squad recently went through the house and couldn't find any illegal activity ...so I'm told.
A person in the street has organised a petition (I'm not sure who to) to have her evicted and has phoned me (very unpleasant phone call) to get me to do it saying they are living in fear and it's all my fault. I explained that unless she failed to pay her rent, damaged the property, threatened me or my family or was caught in illegal activity on the property there was not much I could do.
I rang Tenancy Services at DHB who said unless she or her friends were threatening people from the property (not the complaint so far) it would be very difficult to move her and would go to TT mediaton anyway with my tenant and the complainants in the street.
Last time I talked to her about this I offered her out of the FFT and she said she wanted to stay as she liked the house. I haven't managed to get hold of her since the unpleasant phone call to see if her would be willing to modify her lifestyle so that it could be a win/win situation for everyone.
Any suggestions on a way forward or how to end the FFT early.
