I've been using an independent property manager but suddenly received a letter today that the business would be closed down and my contract would be trasferred to the property managment team of a real-esate company. I checked the managment contract we signed but there is no provision for transfer of property management to another party. There is a clause that requires either of the signed parties to give one month notice to terminate the contract. However, the transfer is obviously less than one month.
Is it legal for my property manager to transfer the contract to another party without my consent? What would you do to mininize impact on the existing tenants? I see three options here for me: (1) take the property back and run it myself, (2) terminate the contract and look for a new property manager, or (3) talk to the new guy before deciding on him.
I need urgent advice. Thanks in advance.
