It causes a lot of confusion for travellers who book their own travel online and have connecting flights. They often think they are flying into the same airport terminal that they are departing from and don't realise they have a 20 minute transfer to contend with.
While I have some sympathy for them I don't have much, there are lots of airports around the world where different airlines fly from different terminals at the same airport (e.g. Singapore, LA) so it is something I'd expect to research before booking (unless I was just using on airline).
It even happens in Auckland if you are going between domestic and international.
1st oxy bottles and now flooding the generators!!!
Water flooding in the galley knocked out three of the four on-board power generators, including all AC-powered systems, as the plane was on descent 25 kilometres from Bangkok airport. Air investigators say that if the flooding had occurred more than 30 minutes' flying time from an airport or had there been a delay in landing, it would have placed the plane — carrying 346 passengers and 19 crew — "at considerable risk" as more systems were likely to fail.
Boeing's nightmare continues
dreamllners going no where At Boeing's giant facility in Everett near Seattle there is a parking lot full of 787 Dreamliners. Two dozen planes sit idle because the project to build the next generation airliner has stalled yet again. Boeing says Air New Zealand is still due to get its first 787-9 at the end of 2013, but that now looks unlikely. After an electrical fire on one of the test aircraft last month the 787 has been grounded, with no word yet on when testing can continue. This week the Seattle Times said the jet programme was in worse shape than it seemed, with a cascade of systems failures after the fire and manufacturing problems.
AirNz's first Boeing 787's were due to arrive this week when they were initally ordered.
Good news is the delay gave AirNz time to redesign and add new features plus upgrade 777-300 fleet. The 777-200 aircraft will shortly be upgraded with the new state of the art features too.
On present trans-Tasman flights there is already
a Space Plus option, but I think that's being ditched
with the newer configurations. More leg room and
greater seat-back tilt angle were the 'plusses' if
I recall aright.
Just remember you pay for what you get.
I enjoyed Air NZ for their service.
Have used cheaper asia airlines in the past and have not used them since.
Can't wait to use the new space class.

I couldn't agree more! There is no comparison in service, meals and amentities between, say, Air NZ and Air Asia. You definitely get what you pay for. But if you are willing to sacrifice the extras you can save a fair whack of money - which means more for travel expenses. I have had no issues with Air Asia in the past - but the longest flight was 3 hours. I might change my mind after my upcoming 10 hour flight without movies to entertain me. I'll just load up the iPod with movies, and hope to sleep on the overnight flight...
Yep, you can. You have to convert them to a different format (there are free apps you can download to do this) then drag them in via iTunes. The battery life will cope with a couple of movies if the battery is new-ish. You are looking at a small screen or course, but it's not as bad as you might think. And it's certainly better than staring at the back of the seat in front of you for 9 hours!
You could even watch the movies on Cell phone.
There are free converters.
AVS Video Converter works great, they convert to iPod too.
Fire Fox even have there add ons where you can download flash websites such as you tube and convert them in to any format.
There were a few jets in the sky over
Hastings, today. One was a BA 'whisper
jet' and the other was above cloud
base. Was it the new AirNZ aircraft?
Or something else going on around
here that I'm unaware of?
Two cows wandered onto the Napier runway and the entire Hawkes Bay air traffic was stacked up over Hastings.
Both Napier control tower staff members broke out in a sweat and will need stress leave tomorrow.
