  • They haven't got a clue, its all crystal ball gazing and at the end of the day you should do what's right for you and your circumstances. Buy, sell, buy and hold, buy and trade. How will things look if we have Little as PM come next elections and the Greens and The Opportunities Party in power? See ya later for the next 3 years, someone can rent my place cause I won't be here. Time to embark on a long awaited OE!!

          • OCR may stay at 1.75pc until 2020

but banks will keep raising mortgage rates anyway

            have you defeated them?

The ASB just made a huge profit.
Wonder why the banks feel the need to charge borrowers more and more.?

                  • as a nation

we need more savings and savers

+ fewer housing investors relying on OS money

so well signalled macro tools are being tweaked

to increase interest rates for both savers and borrowers

                      1 - because they can...
2 - They have measure on scorecards to hit
3 - they have shareholders who expect profit growth quarter on quarter

                        And they shouldn't because?
What is the relationship between the OCR and mortgage rates?

                        • Banks profits down a bit for the first time in 7 years.

Bank profits fell for the first time in seven years last year on the back of growing competition and a squeeze on bank margins.

It has amazed me how we had a GFC and the banks started making more and more money just after that occurred.

They've been absolutely creaming it for 7 years.

Should have bought some bank shares back then!

Depends if you are a righty or lefty.
Left is always right but right is wrong.
                                Oh that's about men's earings I think.
