I understand that some apartment developments have registered leases instead of unit titles. Does anyone know of any examples and the possible motives of the developers?. I have heard suggestions of (a) a GST saving and (b) a continuing income stream from management charges and (c) easier further developments on the site (eg additional storeys).
I'm also interested to know how the leases set out how the lessor/developer charges for management, maintenance etc, costs.
