Yes, we're supposed to put our money into the sharemarkets around the world so that companies can get capital to build successful businesses.
But aren't many share investors just trying to make money on the value of the shares (and/or dividends) which is basically the same as flipping houses isn't it? Except that only the brokers are employed with shares and with houses it's all sorts of tradespeople, real estate agents etc.
These particular hedge fund guys were just taking money off banks. They didn't produce a thing but made heaps of money. That sort of thing will always be very attractive I guess (compared to say manufacturing which is costly, risky and slow).
