  • Cork Tiles

Can anyone recommend a good tradesman in Auckland
to install cork tiles including polyurethane coating.
We have had some quotes from flooring companies, but they are
    far to expensive.
    We can provide the tiles.

    Hi,

I've done it myself before, and the trick was to lay (nail) some hardboard down first to get an even surface.

Laying the tiles is easy enough, and polyurethaning is, like, really groovy, man......sorry - I was remembering the fumes!

So, if you've got the time, its a reasonably acheivable DIY task.

      Hi,
I fitted cork tiles also and as cube said it is a relatively easy job to do. Hardboard is the way to go, remembering to nail it every foot or so to stop any movement or lifting.
I laid the tiles in a bathroom but after about 3 years the tiles discoloured even though they has been sealed. In the end I had to pull them all up. Removing them was a lot more hassle than laying them. Replaced them with coloured Lino tiles that look heaps better and hopefully should be easier to remove when they become tired.
      Cheers
