Tags are one of the new features of the forum and they are added manually to threads to help classify the thread by it's keywords.
This then gives us an alternate way to search for information and find similar threads.
When you view a forum list you will see a small tag icon beside each thread - put your mouse over the icon and you can see the tags that were added to the thread.
In the example above the thread is titled "Slump hits loans staff" and the tags give the extra information that the thread relates to the BNZ.
When you view the thread you will see the tags repeated at the bottom of every page.
If you click on the word Tags you get taken to http://www.propertytalk.com/forum/tags.php which lays out the 70 most commonly used tags on the forum. This type of page is called a "Tag Cloud" and the tags are sized according to the frequency of their use.
If you click on a specific tag, either from a thread or from the cloud you get taken to a list of threads that share that tag. For instance bnz takes you to http://www.propertytalk.com/forum/tags.php?tag=bnz
Adding Tags to a Thread
When you create a thread you will see a section for tags underneath the edit screen. Simply type in the tags you believe are appropriate, with a comma to separate them. When they are saved they are sorted alphabetically and made all lowercase. If the tag you are entering has already been used then you will see a list of suggested tags. This helps you to pick an existing tag and avoid minor variations (or typos
