As a property maintenance co, we looked at supplying and installing these for our customers, however, we felt the benefits of these domes didnt sell itself... that is, with the domes being visually unusual, and too much of 'the unknown' in terms of results for potential customers, they would have been a hard sell. It really comes down to personal choice, if you take for face value the domes deliver the benefits it says it will. and you are happy to give it a go... then you have nothing to loose... I know talking to the company that manufactures them, he told us he had happily removed a dome for a new customer that felt it wasnt for them, so if you are up front and get their agreement to fully refund if you are not satisfied you dont have anything to loose (sounds like if you dont go the dome option, you are in for a 'heat lamp - extractor fan anyway)
If you are a DIY person, you could make the same thing yourself out of a piece of perspex or polycarbonate, it doesn't have to be a dome. Very pricey for what it is.
Hi there we have been keen to look at these to remove moisture in the bathroom - or at least control it. They do look a little ugly from the few we have seen and that has perhaps been the bigest turnoff - the concept it straightforward and I am sure it works. How are they for cleaning? on top of the dome etc?

I beleive the dome attribute is to stop the anoying dripping on your head as the steam condenses it then drips away to the outside. But I am sure there are "options" in line with your suggestion to stop this?
We've had no great problems keeping ours clean on the outside (Inside doesn't get dirty at all). We just use a feather duster and give it a quick flick over once a month or so to remove any dust. You do need to stand on a stool or something of course, unless you're over 8 feet tall....
I was interested in the Hamilton franchise of ShowerDomes a few years ago. There has been a lot of R & D gone into the domes as well as development expense hence the price.
We agreed to try one before considering buying into the business but after one shower was fitted we found it way too humid to the point of stifling, even with the shower temp turned down. I guess it depends upon personal preference. If you don't mind humidity then you might find it OK.
We couldn't invest in a product we didn't use ourselves so passed on the opportunity.
If you can try one out before you buy great.
I personally wouldn't use in IPs simply because you don't if the next tenant will like it.
One other thing regarding getting one fitted then maybe deciding against it and getting it removed. This is what we did and the rails which were glued on with SupaGlue were impossible to remove without damage to the Hardiglaze so keep that in mind if getting one fitted.
I remember the guy that invented it came to fit it and said he got the idea from noticing how the steam inside a glass top stockpot condensed and ran back down into the pot and he thought the same thing would work in a shower. It does, it just "cooked" us while we showered!
As has been already mentioned it's going to be personal preference.
We have showerdomes installed in both of our bathrooms and they are amazing! I wouldn't be without them now. They are such a simple but effective solution. There is no steam at all. This is because steam is created when warm air and cold air masses mix. The showerdome basically acts as a lid which stops the warm air from inside the shower mixing with the cold air from outside the shower. Therefore no steam is created at all. So it is not like a sauna inside the shower at all. It completely eliminates the need for fans or heaters because there is no steam to get rid of. Now we don't have to worry about mould or mildew in our bathroom. It's great! The person that installed ours has a website.

I'm not sure I'd deal with them. The site looks very flash but doesn't seem to have any details on who is behind it and where they are located.
I've done some digging and the domain is registered to Surface Protect (NZ) Limited which is a company that doesn't exist any more. It was removed from the companies register at the request of the shareholders last year.
I've purchased products from the website and the service was great. I just had a look at the website and found all the details in about us and terms and conditions. It is clear that they were DS & MS Beggs trading as Surface Protect and their location and address was there too. My showerdomes were installed by the same people. I would definitely recommend them to others.
Ya know, sometimes I get people offering to go guarantor for prospective tenants. Now, that's fine in theory but when it comes time for me to do the credit and background checks on the so called guarantor, they sometimes turn a little white. My point is, who would recommend you (carrying a total of three posts)?

I've had another look and yes you are right, your details are under "terms and conditions". The one page nobody reads until they are desparate.
The "about" page has an 0800 number and an email address. Now if that page had your contact details we'd have a little more confidence in ordering from your web site.

There could be any number of reasons to wind up a company. It's certainly not necessarily sinister. In this case it looks as though they've liquidated the company to trade in a proprietorship structure.
