    APIA Elections

Who will represent you on the Board?www.apia.org.nz/election03.htm

Elections for the 2007/08 Board of the Association will be held during the Keynote Meeting on Tuesday the 14th of August - and with around 14 Candidates for 8 roles, competition for Board positions is higher than it has been in years!

These elections will be conducted under the terms of our new Constitution - which means that four of the incoming Board Members will be elected for 1 year, and four will be elected for 2. Thereafter, Board Members will always be elected for 2 years with 4 Members coming up for election at each AGM.

Looks like several Pt forum members are standing for Board election.

I have gone through the candidates. And see the following relevant quote from Barry.
Why I’m standing for the board:

I envisage an environment where all property industry professionals and product suppliers are given the opportunity to present and assist with the education of APIA members. I do not envisage a culture where a predefined group of property industry professionals and product suppliers are given carte blanche for exposure to the association’s members. I am supportive of the current professionalism of the APIA board, but not of the commercialisation. I am concerned that the board is not taken over by business networks at the expense of APIA remaining an independent industry voice.
Everybody read the candidates profile attachments carefully. They have word doc's you can click on and open. Some candidates have a proven track record already with Apia and others are new to the board.

I must say however that many of the applicants do appear to have commercial interests/ affiliations. Which is why they above quote from Barry stood out to me.

Prehaps it is time to break the commercial strangle hold.

    Disclaimer:
This post is neither endorsed by Apia or any of it's election candidates.

Would it be possible for future elections, that members (of any group) vote absentee if they cannot attend such meetings?

Being a member myself, I am considering who to vote for. Barry is a safe bet. But does anyone else know which of those members have Richmastery affiliation? I believe that Ron and David Whitburn do. Are there any others?
Also are there any other groups or organisations who have 2 or more members up for the vote?

Why not ask each candidate? Advise them that you will be making a note of their answer.

Did anyone else get an email late yesterday re some accusations that had been made against Ashley Church?

Is there is reason why this needs to happen on the Eve of an election? Regardless of reason....

Congrats Barry - hopefully you can be a voice of reason, focussing on what is good for members, rather than politics and commercial interests.

                    Oi! Oi! Oi!

Shouldn't the Wellington PIA which isn't affiliated to the NZ Property Investors Federation get their own house in order (of which you are a member) before you start throwing stones?

                    Ron

                        Congratulations Barry. Our independant spokeperson.

                        Welcome back Andrew also.

The continued rapid growth of APIA means there is still some great times ahead.

May the next 12 months be a good one.
