Mortgage interest rates are on their way up. The main banks lifted fixed-term mortgage rates virtually across the board this week by up to 0.3 per cent to more than 7 per cent for two years fixed, without any public announcement.
The long-term fixed rates are expected to rise even more next year, pushed up by international interest rates. As well, floating mortgage rates are set to rise, possibly within a couple of months.
