Default Nothing out of the ordinary

This happens throughout many parts of the world and even in Auckland !! (Ponsonby, North Shore - 2 name but 2 places))

There are many 'gated communities' although this is a new term to me.

Very sought after in Florida etc.

I think it's like living in a square - it builds a stronger sense of community with your fellow-gated neighbours.

It seems that most complaints are from people living just outside the gates - maybe they feel a bit left out.

    Cheers.

Speaking from Nelson where the article is stiring up a bit of discussion.
It is good to give the buying public a choice.
We do not have a high crime rate but we do have a high number of underclass. Also it keeps out the door to door sales people and the mormans.
so yes it is good and will be good for the town.

I know of 3 gated subdivisions in West Auckland. In one case they only gate in the carpark area i.e. the back doors. In another case the gate has been vandalised, and as far as I know it still remains open now because it wont close.
