Replace insulation 1960 house
Hi all,
I have a 60's brick veneer clad (cavity type) and concrete tile state-house-style type house.
We have the internal wall linings off the house for rewiring by electricians.
Most of the house except 1 room has existing building paper. In that one room the building paper...

Someone told me that a house built in 2017 is much warmer than one built in 2005.
I tried to search the building code change that necessitated this jump in build quality (and cost!)
If I were looking to buy a house that is built better than one in 2005 say, what year of building...

What is the situation with insulation these days? One of our rentals (bought in 2014 at which point it had foil insulation with wool installed on top of it - nothing done to update it) is apparently having trouble.
Tenant is complaining it is too cold in the property / damp.

External wall insulation - Proving code compliance ?
Evening all ... first post
I'm doing my own design, consent and build under an owner builder exemption for a new family home we've purchased in Auckland. The work will involve some exempt items as well as a new deck and insulation to external walls. I'm fine with the fact I require...

Insulation.
I have only just thought of this people. With the new laws regarding insulation in rentals, who checks the insulation in the properties at the end of the tenancy as part of the outgoing inspection?
The amount of money involved, I suggest it may be prudent to put it into outgoing inspections...
