What info does QV give to council?
So I asked the bank for more money to finish renovations. The bank said they want a valuation done if we proceed. How is QV going to treat half finished renovations, and what information are they likely to give to the council?

The Council are opportunists.
After watching the morning show this week, and hearing about this new "Rubbish tax", I decided that the council are in many ways, a bunch of self serving opportunists.
latching on to any problem in order to collect more revenue.
Revenue alone does not solve problems....

Creating new bedrooms from living spaces, then selling the property.
Hey guys, I've got what i feel is a stupidly simple question, but I can't seem to find answers anywhere...
Say an unnecessary dining room has been converted into a bedroom (complying with Building Act and relevant legislation; i.e. window size, ventilation, fire etcetc) and no Building...

Anyone affected by the Significant Natural Area in Wellington City?
Just had some discussion with the council, and these guys are still keen to take away some of my property rights. How dare they impose these nuisances on private properties? I think we need to form a group to fight them back. Lower Hutt landowners done well to scrap the SNA from their district plan...

Auckland Terrace Housing and Apartment subdivision
I have gone through the forum and seen previous comments about not being able to subdivide something in the Terrace Housing and Apartment zone unless it will be 1200m or larger. I understand that the purpose of this rule is to encourage people to fill in the land with high density units/apartments....

Battling an entrenched myth over relocation consents
When I approached my local council about relocating an additional house onto my property, they outlined some requirements. They included a resource consent and a building consent. For the building consent, they further required a re-site report (to ensure that no old rubbish is brought in) and based...

Fireline requirements for inner city properties
I am renovating a villa in Wellington and have been told I need to use fireline Gib on the interior on the north side. No alternations to the outside of the property at all on that side, however insulating the wall on the inside and re-gibbing because we're remodeling and insulating. House is within...

Minor dwelling/sleepout
What are the legalities of living in/renting out a sleepout? I am looking at purchasing a house which has a "gottage" It was built as a studio with toilet, later had a shower added, at which time it was referred to as a sleepout. It's insulated, has a kitchenette, a lounge and a bedroom....

a friend is getting demands from council to hand over tenancy agreements with names and addresses to the council.
He is concerned at privacy issues.
Does council have power to demand such information?
