  • NZPIF Bunnings discount

    Are others actually getting this?
Went into Bunnings tonight, flashed my card. Princely saving of $0.00
Checked the docket - it definitely registered on there. So what gives?
    My blog. From personal experience.

Haha and on the news tonight they're being sued for false advertising (about having the lowest prices). 45 counts each with a penalty of $600k.
    Squadly dinky do!

The discount only works on very limited things ie wood, pavers - so just a joke really - typical large company.

The discount is largely on builders items - paint, timber and suchlike.

I bought a padlock (15% off) and some silicone remover (20% off) today.

I have bought paint brushes and got 50% off, get a decent discount on paint but generally its luck of the draw. If its something on special the chances of discount are slim. I often go to service desk to get them to scan 2 or 3 items to see which is best with discount. My big gripe about the if you see it cheaper elsewhere offer is that you are unlikely to see things elsewhere as a lot of the stuff is branded specifically for Bunnings and you won't see it anywhere else so you can't compare.

And that's the catch with regard to the lowest price guarantee. A while back I bought 4 castors from Bunnings, then later saw the identical castors considerably cheaper in Mega Mitre 10. I went back to Bunnings and pulled them up about it. Problem is their castors were in a little plactic bag labelled with the Bunnings brand... no discount for me.

As others have mentioned the discounts can vary quite a lot on some things, it's certainly worth using if doing a lot of DIY jobs, but something's like 1100$ worth of laminate flooring I got had a grand total of $1 discount but another time I got nearly $100 on a $1k toolset so it's definitely paid for my membership and some for the year

Did you return bunnings castors for a refund and buy the cheaper mitre 10 ones

With wood, i just ring up each one, get the prie and then go to the more expensive one and get 15% off the lower price. It adds up to a lot.
Usually get 10% off with the card

The discount varies but it is often better than nothing.

We have a trade account with Bunnings. Invoices show the retail price and the trade price, so discount is clear - there are various levels of trade pricing depending on spend. (We would be mid level spend I think, less than $100k pa.) Trade discounts vary wildly - quite a few items lhave ittle no discount, but these seem to be branded items. Bunnings brand usually good discount - sometimes up to 40%.

We have a plumber in the family - discounts at the plumber's merchant are generous.
