    That seems right.
    Doesn't it?

Virus hits, everyone is stuck inside, no ones spending, tourism stops etc.
    Banks see the economy tanking.
    Banks forecast a drop.

Reserve bank dumps billions into the economy to inflate things.
    House prices inflate.

    Now now.
That kind of knee jerk emotional reaction isn't going to be of much use.

So, your "Skulls" clip is very nice.
    But it's more "American".
We here are a remnant of the British Empire, so more CAMBRIDGE connected, at a guess.

    And rightly...

    Ha. Nice Simpsons clip.

Although , they got it a bit wrong.
It was a bat, not a cat.
I don't know, sloppy work guys.

    Anyho.

This boys club thing, you might be on to something.
    I really like the idea.

    So...within New Zealand then...can...

Well, it's good to hear that you're happy.

Now, about the private boys club...

Would it be something like that old " Business Round Table" from days past?

    Who's on it?

How do you get on it?

Where can I find some history on it?...

    AHHH, Nice.
    A Diagram!
You know I love formal structures.

    Ok, point 1
The order seems all wrong, incomplete, and inconsistent.

    Soooo, tell me..
How is it that the Government is not above the Reserve Bank of NZ?
Could they not direct them to act...

  • Hey, but isn't it brilliant to have a chap in a full tribal face tattoo and a cowboy hat in parliament?
    New Zealand rocks.
I wonder if he's going to wear a Texas type suit with it, or go full Brioni.

I'd suggest a Farmer's suit, so as not to alienate his electorate.

  • Personality politics?
    That seems likely.
Also, Labour showed itself as capable, by being able to handle two complicated practical events well.

But here's a question for you.
Say you were voting for ideas, rather than personal integrity..

    In five words, what...

Massive shift to labor - what does it mean?

I wonder... did all those people who deserted Auckland because they couldn't afford a house, end up in all those electorates that went red?

    Hey Perry.

We have to be careful not to post political stuff at this time.

Maybe delete it, just in case?

You can repost it after the election is over.

    Haha.

That's a well known line of thought.

but you need to finish it.

It comes from the idea that people are NOT FREE to choose.

And that the universe is just a big MACHINE, set in its path.

And that WE are all just GEARS turning...

  • What I'm wondering now, about the Reserve Bank's present Objective and Methodology, is rather deeper.

Sure the personality dynamics of the team are interesting, in a sort of soap opera kind of way.

And the mathematics are interesting in a sort of nerdy way.

    But...

  • Ha ha.

Yes...well...I'm not going to comment on anything political, least wise not so close to an election.

Ideally people should make their own choice.

We can have an interesting talk about that after the dust has settled....

    True! I'll vouch for that!

    But didn't you win?

There's no point trying to talk to people with closed ears.

And aren't you being a bit of a sheep yourself, by worrying about what other people think of you?

You got the cash, you won.

I suppose the real trick is to control the path of the money throughout the economy.

Must be difficult for people who just look at graphs, and have no real deep understanding of flow mechanics.

    Drag, that's my suggestion.

Figure out a way to slow down the flow...

  • Has the Reserve Bank Overstimulated the economy?

It's easy to criticize in hindsight.

But with life returning to normal-ish, did the Reserve Bank just free up too much credit?

Did they overdo it, by dropping the restrictions on LVR and injecting low cost credit?

Did they underestimate how returning New Zealanders...

What continent is this on ?

Wouldn't it be a cold climate predator ?
    You know,
    since the sheep have wool..
    for warmth...
So you might need an insulated predator?
    Possibly a wolf?

    You know what they say...
A stitch in time, makes a man...

Suppose you don't watch that above video link ..
Suppose you just want to gauge the diversity and experience of the decision makers?
Plot the memes that construct their world view, then calculate the overall group dynamic?
That's a bit above your pay grade... but any ho..

Oh, that's actually really good thinking.

He's had a pretty good background.

The better question is " How does the Reserve bank team make its decisions ? ".

The answer to that is probably "an unswerving faith in its predictive modeling"....
