Dream location, right sized house but reclad?
    by RollingCloud
    Hi
Found the perfect location with a small 73m2 house, just perfect for single me. Pricey neighbourhood but id say this would be my forever home (if there is such a thing). Going to auction. However........ this simple rectangle house single storey that was built in 60s, was moved onto new...

Why do you pay more rates if your home has a higher value?
    by donna
    Hi All,

This is something I've been thinking about recently. If you have a modest section but nice home - and from a local government (council) perspective use the same services as every other home in the street why do you cop more rates if your home is worth more?

    cheers,...

    Borrowing for development
    by CraigD
I'm looking at a simple development/renovation and have bank lending approved for the initial purchase but have not queried yet about borrowing for development costs. Previously when looking at this type of borrowing the bank has requested fixed price contracts be reached with contractors which is...

    Double Settlements
    by Si_
Hi All. Do double settlements still work here in NZ? Can I have a house under contract and then simultaneously settle with the vendor and then settle with my buyer?

    I would appreciate some feedback.

    Thanks.

16k tax losses but no income to offset it against
    by House Hunter
I’ve previously owned a rental in Auckland that’s built up 16k of tax losses that I cannot offset against any investment income as I’ve sold the property.

My wife and I have bought our own place to live with the proceeds and we own one rental but in her name only (bought before meeting...

ACC levy for retired person has a rental income?
    by Chelsea
    Hi there
My parents just received a 2020 ACC levy invoice.
They have a LTC company set up to manage the rental property, but both of them are retired and over 70, are they still liable to pay ACC levy? Is this because they are the owner of LTC so liable to pay ACC?
    If the rental...

New Website - Where are the signatures?
    by Anthonyacat
I personally liked the old layout, but figure things are due for an update every 10 years or so (have just done my own website, too!)

But where have all the signatures gone? Without my signature, people won't know I'm an accountant, and won't know to give that extra little weighting on...
