Love the site.
I think for anyone considering investing from off shore or at a distance from where they live, two books should be part of their investing armoury.
They are:
Kiwi Pathfinder - "North Island" and its sister book "South Island."
The North Isalnd book has maps for 329 provincial cities and towns.
I am not sure how many maps there are in the South Island book.
They are available from most book shops and cost about $27.95.

Web Links for NZ
Hi all,
In this post I will summarised some of the web links we have in our web links section of PT
Web Links:
1) A general "Yellow Pages" for NZ . This web site is huge and very powerful - it covers everything!
2) Map for NZ - just incase you can't find one like me !
3) Learn about NZ - the culture - who we are etc... I have loads of articles to helps the o/s investor understand how we work.
4) Property Search Engines - I personally think this is the best search engine for NZ property.
Please note when you search for properties and select one you will see on the listing a link called "Request More Info". When you click this a form will be loaded with text boxes that allows you to send an email to the agent - don't use this! Most of the time the agent will not look at the emails - why ? No idea. Instead copy the email address and send the agent an email directly. This has happened a number of times to us and other members. Apart from that its a great web site for locating properties.
5) Stats on NZ - this is the offical stats site
6) Council web sites - In NZ this is an important source of information regarding the goings on in an area. Very important since there are quite a few projects going on espec. roading to improve our highways.
7) New Zealand Newspapers
8 ) Mortgage Brokers - We have created a Mortgage Brokers Listing on PT (the only way a MB can get on this list is via a clients nomination that is checked out by us). The mortgage brokers listed have been recommended by members as being great at their job. However, the listing still needs more additions - so in order to help you here is a link to the NZ Mortgage Brokers Association.

9) Property Managers - hmmm this is hard!! We have started a Property Manager's Listing on PT as well since we cannot find any central area to find this information out. Again the listing still needs more nominations but the PM's on this listing have been recommeded by members and the only way PM's can get on this list is by the same process as a MB.
